AVIF (AV1 Image File Format)

AVIF adalah format gambar generasi berikutnya berbasis codec video AV1 yang bersifat open-source. Format ini menghadirkan efisiensi kompresi superior, seringkali 50% lebih kecil dari JPEG dan 20% lebih kecil dari WebP pada kualitas setara. AVIF mendukung HDR, gamut warna lebar, transparansi, dan animasi.

Riwayat

AVIF diresmikan oleh Alliance for Open Media pada Februari 2019. Chrome menambahkan dukungan pada tahun 2020, dan Safari menyusul pada tahun 2023, melengkapi cakupan browser utama.
